Helicopter Dragonfly on Mechanical Plant

Helicopter Dragonfly on Mechanical Plant was Barry Crawfords first venture into large scale art. Originally built for Burning Man 2013 with a grant from Black Rock Arts Foundation, it was a scaled up version of one of Crawford's previous works. The sculpture's wings rotate like helicopter blades, with two pairs operating in oposite directions. While the piece is primarily wind powered, it has since been fitted with electric motors that allow the wings, tail, body, and mouth to move without wind.  Helicopter Dragonfly on Mechanical Plant now resides in a private collection outside Cedarville, California.
